Flashback Friday Ancestors

One hundred and forty three years ago my maternal great grandparents were married.

I understand that they were farmers. My grandmother told me so, and she should know. They don't look much like farmers! Their hands do, I think.

Malinda is a pretty name.

James is the spiritual guardian of my home.

This must be Sunday because I see Malinda is holding her bible in the crook of her arm.

    1. He is because I declared him to be. I feel it.

  2. Well, that is just the neatest post yet! I love the pictures of Malinda and James...and yes, I see the resemblance in James and James, your spiritual guardian! Did you have the picture for the artist to carve it by? Or is that coincidence? Malinda is beautiful! I see where you got your good looks from!!!

    1. James is guardian of my home - not me! He is immortalized in the tree carving beside it. I showed my friend, who carved the stump, a picture of James and asked him to try to make it look a little like him, but in a whimsical way. He did. This old blog is a part of the story of "James." http://connectinggere.blogspot.com/2010/08/tree-stump-carving.html

  3. WOW so well preserved! What a great lineage to have and know about. So many people don't identify photos - I noticed that today as I was going through my mom's old photos.

  6. Not possible to display here - They are stored away safely, though. Wedding certificate is still in original frame. I also have grandparent's wedding certificate in original frame. It is too large to scan.

  7. Malinda was a pretty name and what a pretty face. I like her clothes. Stopped by from Seaside Simplicity.

  8. What amazing old photos. They didn't take many back then. Usually you dressed up just for a photographer but it does look like a Sunday, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing!
